Pipe is ordered by nominal bore, not outside diameter, and the two are not the same number. A 1 inch pipe measures about 33.7 mm across the outside. If your drawing gives an outside diameter, say so and we will convert.
Light gauge is fine for a railing and wrong for scaffolding. Tell us the load and the span rather than only the size, and we will point you at the right wall thickness.
