Thickness is quoted on the base plate, not over the pattern. A 3 mm chequered plate measures nearer 4.5 mm across the raised diamonds — worth knowing before you cut a rebate for it.
For outdoor walkways, budget for galvanising or a decent paint system. Bare chequered plate in Karachi humidity will start showing rust in the pattern within a season.
